The National Association for Home Care and Hospice’s policy briefing took place on March 27th and 28th with House and Senate members in Washington DC. Jake Krilovich Executive Director of Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts, and Harrison Collins, Director of Legislative and Public Affairs of the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts arranged meetings with house and senate members. Attending were Kristin Mattson, Chief Clinical & Development Officer, Folusa ‘Tola Olubanjo, President of Seraphic Springs Health Care, Bunmi Atewologun, Director of Human Resources at Seraphic Springs Health Care and Renee Picard Walsh of RPW Consulting and President of the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts Political Action Committee (PAC).
Members advocated for the home health industry ahead of anticipated Medicare cuts from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide education to congressional members on the post-COVID landscape and to share challenges with capacity, recruitment, and regulation as well as the potential impact of looming cuts ahead of the proposed rules from CMS expected late June. House and Senate staff were responsive and engaged in these important conversations and are pursuing a Senate Finance Committee hearing in May regarding CMS’s potential plan.
