Tuesday, January 30, 2024 – The Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts ( HCA of Ma.) organized Home Care Advocacy Day at the State House in Boston on Tuesday, January 30,2024. The event was co-hosted by: Senator Patricia Jehlen, Rep. Thomas Stanley, and Rep. Carmine Gentile. HCA of Ma. Executive Director, Jake Krilovich, addressed the crowd at the Grand Staircase and specifically highlighted two legislative priorities that are critically important to the home care industry. The proposed legislation would (1)establish a licensure program for non-medical home care services and (2) would create a more transparent, efficient, and regularly scheduled rate setting process. After the general assembly at the grand staircase, members met with staff of numerous Representatives individually to articulate specific challenges facing the home care industry, the impact on the health care system as a whole as a result of these challenges, and to garner legislative support for the two proposed bills. Harrison Collins, Director of Legislative and Public Affairs at HCA of Ma. led these important discussions. Participating in the effort from Care Central VNA & Hospice, Inc. were Ricardo Muchiutti, Compliance & Quality Officer and Kristin Mattson, Chief Development & Clinical Care Transitions Officer.
